From Notepad to WebStorm, each tool shaped my growth as a developer. Every step fueled creativity, turned challenges into opportunities, and helped me build things that matter.
WebStorm
When I started using WebStorm in 2020, everything changed. It became my go-to for building full-stack dynamic sites and integrating seamlessly with MongoDB. With its powerful features and intuitive interface, WebStorm felt like the perfect tool to transform complex projects into polished, professional creations.
VSCode
Where I refined my craft. With extensions for everything, lightning-fast performance, and endless customization, it became more than just a tool—it was my playground for growth, experimentation, and pushing the boundaries of what I could create.
Brackets
Brackets was my perfect front-end playground. With its live previews and clean interface, it became my go-to space for experimenting with ideas. It was here that I truly embraced CSS and discovered the joy of transforming static designs into vibrant, interactive experiences.
Aptana Studio
Aptana was my gateway to professional web development. Unlike the tools I’d used before, it felt different. More powerful, more capable. It was the moment I realized web development could be more than a hobby.
Dreamweaver
The shift from gaming to freelancing marked a new chapter. With Adobe Dreamweaver, I built websites for my metal band, other local bands, and small businesses like photographers and dog breeders. By avoiding the drag-and-drop features, it became the tool that helped me master clean, hand-coded designs and refine my skills.
SWiSH & Notepad++
A highlight of my World of Warcraft guild days... I created a fully interactive navigation banner using SWiSH, tied together with Notepad++. This project sparked my love for blending creativity with functionality.
Photoshop & Notepad++
Where design met development: crafting layouts in Photoshop, slicing them into pieces, and assembling it all in Notepad++. Using tables to bring these fragments to life as a working site felt like pure magic, but it was also incredibly frustrating.
Notepad++
My first step up from raw Notepad: a tool with tabs, syntax highlighting, and plugins. It was ideal for gaming clan sites and PHPBB forums, and for the first time, I felt truly in control of my projects.
Notepad
In 2002, at age 16, I built my first Starcraft clan site with raw HTML in Notepad. It was rough, and full of mistakes, but it was mine. Around the same time, I got into Lua, creating mods for an Ultima Online shard I played on. Writing scripts to tweak gameplay opened my eyes to how creative code could be, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my journey! Each project, milestone, and tool has shaped who I am as a developer and problem solver. If my story resonates with you or sparks inspiration, I’d love to connect and collaborate on something incredible. Here’s to building the future, one project at a time!
